Artist’s Statement

Have you ever taken a drive and seen a place along the road that just demands your attention?  For me, those places might be a retro diner in the Florida Keys along Route 1 South where I can get a delicious piece of key lime pie. Perhaps it’s a beautiful barn or a roadside stand where I can find the freshest, juiciest peach or a colorful bouquet of flowers. Even a faded sign on a fish processing plant on the Gloucester waterfront attracts my eye.

I’m drawn to imagery with text, luminosity, and color and have looked to the paintings of Ed Ruscha, David Hockney, Edward Hopper, Nell Blaine, and Richard Diebenkorn for my inspiration. I hope you enjoy my paintings and drawings!
